Bangladesh Tour of Sri Lanka 2007: Bangladesh Wants to Impress

Bangladesh cricket team is now in Sri Lanka. Bangladesh has never won a test or ODI in Sri Lanka. So, the first thing that Ashraful and his team mates have in mind is to win at least one match in the tour. Sri Lanka is the former World Champion and they are in good form now.

The Hindu wrote:

The Bangladesh team visits Sri Lanka after a heavy defeat of an innings and 239 runs in its second home Test match and a 0-1 series loss to India.

But the team’s stand-in Australian coach, Shaun Williams, said it hopes to put on a good performance in Sri Lanka. “We will be tough and we will be competitive,” he told reporters in Colombo on Monday.

Mohammad Ashraful, who has taken over the captaincy, said the team’s main focus would be to improve.

Mohammad Ashraful is now the star cricketer of Bangladesh Cricket Team. After Habibul Basher age, Mohammad Ashraful is going to lead Bangladesh. As a batsman he started his career from 2001 by being debut against Sri Lanka.

By the diction of BCB, Mohammad Ashraful is the next skipper of Bangladesh. Talking with the media men Ashraful told, "I don`t feel any additional pressure of captaincy. But yes, it’s a challenging assignment, and I have also taken it as a challenge,"

Two years ago Ashraful told some of meida that he didn't "want to think about captaincy for another five years at least.”

As a young man of 22 years old, he just has played 101 ODIs and 35 Tests. Will he show his performance? What is your opinion?

The Strong Security of Bangladesh Sri Lanka Cricket match

Fighting between troops and Tamil Tiger rose. The officials assure Bangladesh team that they will protected highly during the match time. Bangladesh is going to play a three tests and three ODI from 17 June.

The Daily Times reported:

“My ministry has already got in touch with the ministry of foreign affairs on this,” Lokuge told AFP. The minister was responding to a reported circular issued by the Bangladeshi government advising its officials to avoid visiting Sri Lanka, even in transit, following escalation of the conflict on the island. Lokuge insisted that Colombo was safe and the government would ensure the safety of the visiting team. South African cricketers abandoned their tour of Sri Lanka last year when suspected Tamil Tiger rebels carried out a car bomb attack near the team hotel that killed four people.

Bangladesh vs India Test series: Bangladesh does not want to draw

On May 21, 2007, news was in the daily Prothom Alo about the aspect of Bangladeshi cricket team. The head line was that Bangladesh does not want to take the effort of rain to draw the first test.

On the four day, Bangladesh has proven it but Bangladesh had to fight more. Before 50 runs Bangladesh lost 3 wicket and fall in to presser on 122 runs Bangladesh lost 7 wickets and their dream was come to dream only. The last three wickets held the rudder of Bangladesh and it blew them on 238. The last three wickets added 126 runs which was more valuable. This 126 helped Bangladesh to awake their dream to continue the match.

Last, not least, to see the final result we have to wait for the day five. On the end of the day, again India came to batting and has lost two valuable wickets. Now KD Karthik 15, SR Tendulkar 24 is on the batting now. I think this early wickets fall India on pressure.

The match Bangladesh vs India and Sri Lanka vs Pakistan

The match Bangladesh vs India and Sri Lanka vs Pakistan

The four cricket teams of the subcontinent are playing their matches. After finishing the ODI series Bangladesh is playing test match with India. But I have to write about the past ODI between India and Bangladesh at Mirpur in Dhaka. In that match Bangladesh beat by India. But Bangladesh pacer Mashrafee Mortuza’s batting showed the light of win to the fan’s of Bangladesh. In that match Mashrafee took 26 runs from Dinesh Mongia’s over with four sixes. But Indian bowler blow up all the hope and Bangladesh lost the match.

In Abu Dhabi, UAE, Sri Lanka just has finished its match with Pakistan. But the story was becoming strange when Pakistan needed 60 runs from 72 balls. At that time Sri Lanka’s Leg spinner M Bandara came for bowling. Shanid Afradi Who is well known as a hard hitting batsman in the world. He took 32 runs from the last over of Bandara which was 4,4,6,6,6,6. There was a huge six in that over.

Bangladesh vs India Test series

After 13 months Bangladesh squad is going to start their Test series again. The test series is going on in Chittagong and our tigers are ready to face the Indian squad.

Bangladesh’s skipper said they will to their good performance in the Test Cricket. Indian team has more experience than Bangladesh. After a long gap Bangladesh is starting the Test series against India.

We hope that Bangladesh will do the best performance in the series. In India team there are more experienced players. We expect that our bowler and batmen will do well. Bangladesh is improving gradually.

The performance in the World Cup is remarkable Bravo! Bangladesh. If our boys play seriously, they will bring glory for us.

We looks at Habibul Bashar, the skipper of Bangladesh team will do something for us. India is a strong squad. But it is not an important thing our team that there are many experienced players in Indian team. Our tigers are ready to fight with them.

Hope, our boys, Masrafe Bin Mortoza, Mohammad Rafiq, Shahadat Hossain will play their best. The opportunity of playing Test series will bring Bangladesh forward. And near future, Bangladesh will be a strong team and keep a sign in the book of the world.

India vs Bangladesh : Shastri and Indian Cricket

In ICC World Cup Cricket 2007, Bangladesh Beat India in the first round. For this India’s dream of world cup was broken. After world cup 2007, India is going to meet again for 10th May 2007 at Dhaka. Indian cricket team manager, Ravi Shastri, promised to see India returning at Dhaka.

The Hindu reported:

Shastri, who took charge of the Indian team only for the ensuing series, said the tour would be a challenge. "It will be a challenging tour especially after the World Cup debacle. We will put out our best foot forward,'' he told newsmen before the camp wound up on Sunday morning.

Referring to the past performance, Shastri said, "what I did not like in the last six months was that the cricketers were going through the motions like they were doing a sort of a 9 to 5 job. If you don't enjoy playing, then forget about winning,'' he said.

Dravid will captain the side. There is no question about that. We know who will lead in case of any eventuality,'' he informed.

The fielding coach, Robin Singh, also drew praise from Shastri. "Robin is tough task master. He will make you put in the best,'' he said.

India is not thinking that it will be easy to beat Bangladesh. It is clear to their conversion.

World Cup Cricket 2007: what will be in the Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka?

From the last performances, we can observe that Bangladesh did well and also the last match between Bangladesh vs. India. It is clear that Bangladesh is doing well. Today (Bangladesh Time) Bangladesh will play with Sri Lanka. In this match, all fans are waiting to see the new miracle.

Stuff New Zealand reported:

Sri Lanka crushed Bermuda by 243 runs. India won by a record margin of 257 runs to remain in the race ahead of Friday's must-win game against the islanders.

Sri Lanka feel Bangladesh would have no fear because of the number of young players in their ranks, coached by Dav Whatmore, who also guided them to Cup glory in 1996.

"We should give credit to Bangladesh the way they have played," Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan said.

"We should not be surprised (by their wins) anymore.

"We started in 1982 (by getting our test status) and in 14 years' we won the World Cup," he said on Monday. "They haven't delivered in the past but they could after this World Cup."

The fast-improving Bangladesh, granted test status in 2000, would again pin their hopes on their young guns against a team they beat last February.

World Cup Cricket 2007: The victory of Bangladesh trembling New Zealand

After beating New Zealand, the mentality of Bangladesh Cricketers has become strength which will help them confidently to play in the World Cup Cricket 2007. But the New Zealand Captain becomes anxious for their unacceptable beat.

World Cup Cricket 2007: Bangladesh could show miracle

In the try Nation Series Bangladesh did well. So the entire Bangladesh supporter is dreaming that Bangladesh will play a good cricket in the World Cup Cricket 2007.

Businessday reported:

However, success in one-day cricket has been rare for Bangladesh, although they are beginning to mature into a reasonable squad.

Cricinfo reports that Bangladesh believe they have a realistic chance to progress beyond the first round in this World Cup.

Bashar is on record as saying that his side’s goal was to upset some of the stronger sides in their group and reach the Super Eight stages.

“Our target is the second round,” Bashar told a news conference as his side prepared to leave for the Caribbean.

“Beating Sri Lanka and India will be a tough assignment, but not impossible.”

Bangladesh will no doubt draw some confidence from wins over Sri Lanka, India and Australia since the last World Cup. In their first World Cup appearance, in 1999, Bangladesh beat Scotland and Pakistan, but failed to win a game after that.

“We went twice to the World Cup without any expectations,” Bashar said. “Now, we have beaten big teams. We are a much better and more mature side.”

Not only Basher but also all the fans also cricket consultant will observe the victory with large view.

World Cup Cricket 2007: A very good introducing for Bangladesh

In the first worm up match before World Cup Cricket 2007 Bangladesh showed its good performance. This victory will grow the confidence of Bangladesh in the next matches.

tv3 reported:

The Black Caps' first World Cup warm-up in the West Indies is turning into a thriller.

Chasing a moderate 224, Bangladesh are 186 for 7 after 44 overs.

They have got another 40 runs to get in the last six overs.

Jacob Oram was the best of the muddling New Zealand batting effort - with a patient 88 in his comeback from a broken finger.

His partnership with Brendon McCullum, who made 46 until a run-out, was the highlight.

So we have to wait fro some days to see the magic of Bangladesh

World Cup Cricket 2007: Bangladesh bowling line show a good starts

In the first worm up match of the World Cup cricket Bangladesh stopped 224 in 45 over. So it is a very good start for Bangladesh. I think in World cup Cricket tournament it will increase their mentally strength.

Cricketworldcuplatest reported:

New Zealand failed to impress against Bangladesh and were bowled out for 224 in 45 overs during their first warm up match of the World Cup at Barbados on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first, the Kiwis made an inauspicious beginning as captain Stephen Flemming perished for a duck.

With Ross Taylor, Scot Styris and Peter Fulton failing to contribute substantially in the middle overs, it was left to New Zealand’s saviour Jacob Oram -- who continues to play with an injured finger—to do the resurrection job.

Oram, who shone with the bat during the CB Series in Australia, produced a precious 88 off 107 balls while Brandon McCullum made 46 to push the total past 200.

For Bangladesh, Mashrafe Mortaza claimed 3 for 22 and Abdur Razzak picked 4 for 26.

India tour of Bangladesh After World Cup Cricket 2007

After Cricket World Cup 2007, 4 One Day Match and 2 Test will be played in Dhaka and Chittagonj. I should be the first math after World Cup Cricket both India and Bangladesh.

Cricinfo Reported:

Should India qualify for the World Cup final on April 28, they have a breather for just eight days before the scheduled departure for Dhaka on May 7. The one-day series commences on May 10 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka, followed by the second match, at the same venue on May 12. Chittagong will host the third one-dayer three days later.

India will stay back in Chittaong for the first Test from May 18 and will head back to Dhaka for the final Test, starting May 25. India last toured Bangladesh in 2004, winning the Test series 2-0 and the one-dayers 2-1. The reciprocal tour, however, is yet to happen.

Itinerary

May 7 Arrival in Dhaka

May 10 1st ODI, Dhaka

May 12 2nd ODI, Dhaka

May 15 3rd ODI, Chittagong

May 18-22 1st Test, Chittagong

May 25-29 2nd Test, Dhaka

World Cup Cricket: Bangladesh Team in the Second round!

In ODI Cricket Bangladesh beat India and Sri-Lanka only one time. But in the World Cup Cricket 2007 in the same group of Bangladesh is stronger team. Bangladesh able to go to the second round if the can win more than tow match. Though it is easy for Bangladesh to beat Bermuda but India and Sri-Lanka is stronger team.

ABC Sport reported:

A

solid start from young left-handed opener Nafees will be essential so that the middle-order batsmen can perform under less pressure.

Bashar is the most experienced batsman, having played nearly 100 one-dayers, and provides solidity to the middle order.

Ashraful is a stroke-maker who can be a big asset if he succeeds in converting good starts into big knocks.

Veteran left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique is the key bowler, having the ability to keep batsmen quiet with his tidy line and length.

Rafique, the only Bangladeshi with more than 100 wickets in one-dayers, and fellow-spinner Abdur Razzak have often dried up runs in the middle order. But they require support from pacemen to make their contributions count.

In Bangladesh Team there are better batsman like Nafees, Habibul Bashar and Mohammad Ashraful. If they show their best performance, Bangladesh could do well.

World Cup Cricket 2007: Bangladesh Team

If we observe the last year’s wining rate, Bangladesh won 18 one-day internationals out of 28. From this statistic, it is clear the Bangladesh could do well in the World Cup Cricket 2007.

tvnz reported:

Although most of Bangladesh's victories have come against Zimbabwe and Kenya, they won 64.24 percent of their matches in 2006, second only to Australia (71.42).
"The morale of the team is very high. Everybody is in a positive frame of mind and keen to perform." said Bashar.
"And we hope to fight effectively to move forward for the second round in the coming World Cup."
Bangladesh now has a number of reliable batsman including Shahreer Nafees and Aftab Ahmed.
In 39 ODIs, Nafees has scored 1,391 runs with three centuries and seven fifties while Aftab made 1,374 runs with 12 fifties.
"If a batsman fails, the other will take up the charge," Bashar added.
Bangladesh will play in Group B in the World Cup, featuring former champions India and Sri Lanka, plus Bermuda.
Bashar said the side also had two dependable spinners, including Abdur Razzak with 45 scalps in 2006.
At the last World Cup in South Africa, Bangladesh lost five of their six games including one against Canada while they were also at the receiving end of a hat-trick by Chaminda Vaas in the first three balls of the match against Sri Lanka.
"That is now a part of history. Now we target to reach the second round of the next Cup," Bashar said.
"Just two wins can take us to the Super Eight, though the job is very difficult. We have two teams in the group who will be looking to win the trophy so it won't be easy to beat them.

World Cup Cricket 2007: Bangladesh and The second round

In the last world Bangladesh has no expectation. But the situation has been changed. Now Bangladesh wants to do something. Anticipation of Bangladesh is to go to the second round or more. If they have to full the target, they have to fight the former champion India and Sri-Lanka.

gulfnews reported:

"Beating Sri Lanka and India will be a tough job, but not impossible," Bashar said before the team left for the Caribbean.
"Our target is the second round. We have to play very well, but we are hopeful." As well as former titleholders Sri Lanka and India, Bangladesh is grouped with Bermuda in limited-overs cricket's biggest competition from March 13-April 28. The top two teams from each group qualify for the second round.
The South Asian side had a humiliating campaign in the 2003 event in South Africa - even losing to a Canadian team made up of amateurs - finishing bottom of its group that also included Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies and Kenya.

Now we have to wait for some day for the result.
