India vs England 1st Test 2008: India in on pressure in the second day

India and England are at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. Both the teams are dominating each-other by bat and ball. At he end of the second day India is in pressure of English bowlers. India already has lost its 5 valuable wickets (top five wickets) by scoring 101 runs. Englands new off spin bowler GP Swann sacked 2 wickets.

In spite of England’s middle order’s batmen failure they scored 316 runs after one and half day. The opener batsman AJ Strauss acquired 123 runs and with the half-centuries of other two batsmen (AN Cook and MJ Prior) threw the team in a strong position.

Here is nothing to analyze the India batting side. The top order batsmen have failed totally to protect English bowlers and as result they are paying for their mistake. G Gambhir, V Sehwag and R Dravid has totally destroyed the dream of the match which the bowlers raised by preventing the English men in 316 runs in the second mid day of the first innings.

Now, Indian batsmen should drive the bat carefully at the end of the day even in the morning session, otherwise they will suffer a lot. The two batsmen (Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni) who are batting now are not considered as the test batsmen. The second and the first innings of the 1st test will come to end within a few over bowling. At this moment the score of the day is:

Middlesbrough v Arsenal: who will win? previews and Live

Arsenal is the top 4th position at this moment in the standings list of the Barclays English Premier League. On the other hand Middlesbrough not so strong team and is securing the 12th position. By summarize the standings we can not take any decision that Arsenal will sure to secure the victory in the upcoming match of the Premier League.

Middlesbrough and Arsenal both teams are in serious pressure at this moment. The football analyzers are thinking that if arsenal fails to take the lead in the rest matches then it would be tough for the qualification of next Champions League. Most important thing of arsenal is about their bad performances. In the last match of UEFA Euro champions league this season got defeat by 2-0 against Porto which through them in the second position in the group last match.

Although Middlesbrough is not in good enough position for their players’ injuries but they also will try to take the chance of arsenal’s bad performances. I want to remind the match of the 2007 season. That time Arsenal defeated to Middlesbrough 2-1 on this December. Middlesbrough will be inspired remembering the victory.

The match will be held on Riverside Stadium on 13 December 2008 at 12:45 Local time. Arsenal online TV will telecast the matche live and Satellite TV Sky Sports. I want to add important information that Middlesbrough secured the 4 wins in the last four matches. On the other hand Arsenal secured just 2 wins out of four.

All facts of India vs England 1st test match and Live score 2008

After a few hours India and England will come to the MA Chidamambaram Stadium to play the scheduled first match at 09:30 local time (04:00 GMT) that was totally uncertain after Mumbai terrorist attack. In the morning the stadium will be full with thousand of cricket fans. The terrorist attack was stopped all the follow of the Indian cricket fans. The massive attack has destroyed all flavor of the 6th and 7th ODI even of the test series.

ECB investigation team visited India and met close door meeting in Dubai whenever England cricket team was practiced and was waiting for the positive signal from the ECB committee men. The England cricket team reached at Chepauk, Chennai on Monday just two days ago of the first test on December 8, 2008. Reaching in Chennai the all English cricketers were full of joy and seems that they were waiting for the green signal from the ECB authorities. I think it is a front-to-front protest against terrorism on cricket and proves that no attack will destroy Cricket.

Chennai is going to become many histories with the 1st test match between India vs England. It will be the 50th test of England in the soil of India and England is the first team in the world who are going to build the record first.

There are some records are waiting for some players of India cricket team who are going to touch their pioneers. But before adding this I am congratulating Virender Sehwag promoting 300 runs in his career in an innings against South Africa in 2008 season and if he can hit one six then he will be the equal six hitter to the Indian World Cup winning Capatin Kapil Dev. Indian master bluster batsman Sachin Tendulkar is going to touch two record and could write his name by adding just 6 runs he can reach in 2000 against England and will be the second man who is going aggregate after Sunil Gavaskar. Another record for Sachin Tendulkar is, as a first Indian cricketer he is leading himself in cricket career most time and going to hold the first position by playing 19 years 26 days in the test match history after Lala Amarnath in India Test Cricket History. Rahul Dravid who is considered as a cool man in cricket, is two steps back from the Australian crickets Mark Waugh taking two catches. Most probably, Mark Waugh is the only players who took more catches standing beside wicket keeper.

The squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag (vice-captain), Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Amit Mishra, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, S Badrinath, Munaf Patel, Murali Vijay, Pragyan Ojha.

In the BCCI board meeting, the selection committee had declared a 15 men squad for the two matches test series against England. Although we cannot see any changed name or any new face who are going to debut in test cricket but hard hitter Yuvraj Singh has been selected for the test match. Yuvraj Singh is considered the most positive players for ODI and T20 tournament. Even he played 23 Test matches as securing 1050 runs. His test average is just 32.81 including 3 centuries and 3 half-centuries. The selection committee has selected him the lack of left-handed batsman in the middle order after Sourav Ganguly’s retirement.

England squad

KP Pietersen, TR Ambrose, JM Anderson, IR Bell, SCJ Broad, PD Collingwood, AN Cook, A Flintoff, SJ Harmison, A Khan, MS Panesar, MJ Prior, OA Shah, AJ Strauss, GP Swann

England team will coming to field with the leadership of KP Pietersen. Only Graeme Swann is the new player in the declared England squad. Indian pitch is always spin favor and due to English seamier Stuart Broad’s injury GP Swann has got opportunity in the test match. With the debutante off spinner GP Swann, KP Pietersen is thinking to take change like Australian debutant off spinner who takes 12 wickets in a test match.

NEO Cricket TV will telecast the India vs England test series live on the SKY Sports will telecast live for European fans. Here is some website that always shows the live score. So enjoy the test series.

Champions League and ESPN's Broadcast Rights

The Champion League’s inaugural Twenty20 club-cricket tournament was scheduled from 3 December 2008 but is was postponed for the terrorist attack in Mumbai. It is hoping to make preparations on the earlier next year but I am not sure about it because of ICC’s tight schedule. Although, it a club to club game where the players will take part on behalf of the different club of England, Australia, Pakistan and India but form India IPL T20 team Chennai Super Kings will take part.

Aiming to make popular the club cricket, BCCI scheduled to organize The Champion League’s inaugural Twenty20 club-cricket tournament and ESPN Star Sports secured the telecast right for next 10 years. But Mumbai attack stopped all plans.

Business Standard reported on 7 December 2008 “At least, Rs 280 crore of ad-revenue was expected from the first Champions League tournament for which ESPN Star Sports paid $975 million as the telecast rights fee for the next 10 years. It was expecting to recover more than half of Rs 430 crore (Rs 4,300 crore for 10 years) from the inaugural tournament from advertising revenue, ticket sales, among other options.”

In the inaugural Champion League’s inaugural Twenty20 club-cricket tournament eight teams will take parts and the match will be held in selected three venues. Chennai Super Kings is one of he popular and strong club of the Indian Premier League and champions of the inaugural IPLT20 Rajasthan Royals and the other hand Middlesex very popular in English Premier League.  Sialkot squad is form Pakistan Victoria and W. Australia are from Australian.

After the 2008 hit Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan starrer upcoming film Ghajini, which is a remake of 2005 Tamil film Ghajini, will hit the screens on 25 December 2008. Ghajini means powerful man. Interestingly, Tamil actress Asin Thottumkal was also in the female lead role of the Tamil movie Ghajini and this time she is going to debut in Bollywood with the Hindi film Ghajini. If you are doubtful about the performance of Asin Thottumkal in her debut Bollywood film, then note that she got the Filmfare Best Actress Award 2006 for her role in the Tamil movie Ghajini. So, you might be temped to see Asin Thottumkal opposite Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in the Bollywood film Ghajini

Champions League’s inaugural Twenty20 club-cricket tournament on 12 December 2008

In the previous articles I wrote that the inaugural Champions League’s inaugural Twenty20 club-cricket tournament will be held earlier in the next year 2009. In a meeting on 8 December 2008 BCCI has taken the final decision that it will be held on 12 December 2008 that was designed to inaugurate on 7 December 2008.

Indiantelevison.com reported

Earlier, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had decided to hold a meeting with the board members of Cricket Australia (CA) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) on 7 December for fixing up a possible date for the Champions League Twenty20. The meeting, however, could not be held.

Said Emerging Media CMO Raghu Iyer, "There is a window open in January. After that, it will be difficult to slot the event."

Here is a question to BCCI, how did they schedule at that time? Did they break the Future Tour Programmes rules? Or is it meaning that India will not go to their scheduled tour in Pakistan? In stead of Pakistan tour, BCCI is inaugurating the Champions League’s inaugural Twenty20 club-cricket tournament?
