On 05 February 2009, the 4th ODI was held at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. To touch the most wicket taker title Muttiah Muralitharan had to play 328 matches. On the other hand Wasim Akram achieved 502 wickets from 356 matches. To pull off the 503 wickets, he took 4 wickets 14 times and 5 wickets 10 times and his best bowling was 7/30.
Indian opener G. Gambhir was that lucky wicket for Muttiah Muralitharan to over take the Wasim Akram.
After winning toss India elected to bat first. India lost an early wicket of V Sehwag. Captain MS Dhoni and G. Gambhir’s partnership helps India to build a strong sore. MS Dhoni scored 94 from 140 balls. And G Gambhir sored 150 runs from 147 and felt in to the trap of Muttiah Muralitharan’s spin.
