Ferozeshah Kotla stadium got green signal from ICC to host next world cup cricket matches .ICC withdrew the international exile is over after one year. ICC suspended the international status of the venue in December 2009 over a pitch fiasco made for a one day match between India and Srilanka. The International Cricket Council removed the one year ban on Monday.
To take the decision ICC examined the report from their pitch consultant Andy Atkinson about a game in this field. He monitored a first class game here played between Delhi and Gujarat. Now the stadium got re-certification from ICC and there is no other restriction to hold four scheduled matches of World Cup 2011.
DDCA secretary Sneh Bansal said that ICC is happy with the new pitch and facilities provided. He also admitted of a few shortcomings but expected to overcome it in time.
BCCI pitches committee chairman Venkat Sundaram supervised the whole re-working of the pitch for 12 months. He is also happy with the outcome.
