ICC Twenty20 season 2009: schedule and timetable

Just after a month, the most anticipated big cricket festival Twenty20 cricket tournament will be held from 5 June 2009 in England. This is the second time, 20-20 formatted cricket matches is going to take place but the first season was hosted by South Africa in 2007. From the first time this format got huge popularity of expectation.

 

Total 12 nations will take part in the ICC Twenty20 season 2009. Three qualified nations, alongside 9 test playing countries will take part in first round match by dividing four groups. Eight teams will be eligible for the knock-out super eight matches. Schedules of the first round matches from 5 June to 10 June when 12 matches will be kicked off.

 

The opening ceremony will be organized at        Lord's, London, when two European teams England and Netherlands will be showdown at that time in the inaugural match on 5 June 2009.

 

The Super Eights round matches will be grounded among them on 11 June who will be eligible from the first round. The top two point holders each four groups will take parts by dividing two groups. Similarly, the top tow will meet in semi-final encounters. Two semi-finals will be held on 18 and 19 June 2009. The final will be held at Lords on 21 June 2009.

 

The group stage matches will be kicked off at 13:30 local time except the opening day, second day first match and two semi finals and the final. The two semifinals will be at 17:30 local, 16:30 GMT and the final at on Sun 21 June, 15:00 local, 14:00 GMT.

As the cricket business is based on South Asian countries especially India. So, the time schedules are very important for those people. According to India local time (IST) the opening ceremony will be held at 23:00 but the charming convention will before the match time. But he final match will be kicked off at 20:00 IST on Sunday the weekly holiday.
