Bollywood’s profit 2007

Year 2007 was very profitable for Bollywood. 253 films came to on screen, among them 28 become successful and other went flop. It is the second times in this decade that a huge number of films have got more box-office hit although a lot of productions went under profit. Though 28 films got hit in the box-office but from 5 movies most of the profits earned. The five moves has come the top list, they are CHAK DE! INDIA, OM SHANTI OM, WELCOME, PARTNER and TAARE ZAMEEN PAR.

The success ratio of Bollywood films has always been less than 20 percent. In 2007, the percentage of successful films was just 11.1 percent. However, the 28 successful films, out of the 253 released, made more money than the losses incurred by the remaining 225 films.

Other than the five aforementioned films, the remaining profitable ventures made a total profit of Rs. 100 crore. As against the total profit of Rs. 225 crore earned by 28 films, the losses made by the producers, distributors and exhibitors in the remaining 225 films were to the tune of Rs. 205 crores.

To tell truth, year 2007, was profitable year. But interesting thing that only the well known actors’ film become super-hit. Although the new comer pair Sonam-Ranbir in Saawariya did not get hit in the box office but the intellectuals is thinking they will be future profit of bollywood film industry.
