South African Opener Gary Kirsten will be the Coach of India Cricket

The former South African opener Gary Kirsten will be appointed in the important post of coach of Indian cricket team. About one year after the Indian cricket board are going to appoint a coach for Indian cricket team. Australian coach Greg Chappell had stepped down from the post following the team's disaster in the World Cup cricket in West Indies.

The Indian cricket board has selected Gary Kirsten as coach of Indian cricket team for two years. Gary Kirsten will convey his duty from 1st march 2008 and his first tour in Australia.

After selected as coach of Indian team Gary Kirsten said that he was "very, very happy" with the terms and situation of his contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and honored to be the coach of "such a great cricket team". Kirsten also said he would, however, be joining the Indian team possibly in the center of its tour of Australia, starting later this month, as a consultant.

I'll start from March one but in the meanwhile I will interact with the team and the cricket board as a consultant", said the former gritty batsman to PTI from his home in Cape Town.

Kirsten said he would travel to India to talk to the players before they board on their tour of Australia. Kirsten was interviewed by a committee of experts set up by the Board in secrecy at Delhi. After a week Indian cricket board (BCCI) expressed the acceptance news of Kirsten near media.

Despite of the conflict of some Indian cricketer Kirsten has signed in the agreement. He had been eagerly awaited for a long time. At last his dream has completed. Now it is matter to see that how much development can do Indian team by the coaching of Kirsten. Source Rediff
