Chelsea vs Manchester United EPL 08-09: Finale Score 1-1

Chelsea managed a point against Manchester United thanks to a late equalizer from Salomon Kalou after Park Ji-sung’s first-half strike had put Manchester United ahead in the match. The Super Sunday match ended in 1-1 draw with both sides picking up a point from the match. Going into the match on 84-match unbeaten streak at home in premier league, Chelsea was slightly favorite in the Stamford Bridge meeting today. However, at one point, Chelsea’s formidable home record was on the verge of being stopped today, substitute Salomon Kalou’s goal just 10 minutes from time helped the home side keep its undefeated home record intact.

Manchester Untied went into the match on the back of their dismal run this season, but the visiting side did not take too much time to take the control of the match from the onset. The formation Sir Alex Ferguson featured in the match worked really very well and created a lot of problem for the home side. In fact, the first half was controlled by Manchester Untied, but Chelsea came back strongly after the half time and created a number of chances to clinch an equalizer in the second half.

In the 17th minute of the match, Park Ji-sung scored the goal for Manchester United after Patrice Evra initiated the attack, cutting inside the box. However, it would be unfair to say that Chelsea found no chance coming in their way in the first half. In fact, Chelsea created a good chance before conceding the goal, but Joe Cole failed to deliver a good finish. Then in the end, Salomon Kalou header clinched a draw for Chelsea.

With this draw, Chelsea moved down to second place with 11 points from five outings, wasting a chance to go top of the table with a victory. Manchester United, on the other hand, secured a morale booster draw against Chelsea, but they are still left in the middle of the table with 5 points from 4 matches.
