UEFA Champions league 2009-2010 would be most competitive

The first Group stage of the UEFA Champions league 2009-2010 is going to star form 15 September. Thirty two Football clubs of Europe will play two matches (home and away) by dividing eight groups and in each group four clubs will participate. From English Premier League four clubs Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool has qualified directly but Arsenal had play a play-off matches with Scottish football club. The fours all time used to qualify for the champions league mach as usual.

Most probably, Spanish giant Real Madrid has make a big appeal before the season for a huge transferring deal with the players. It has brought Portuguese hero Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazilian midfielder Kaká with a record number of transfer rate ever. Most time La Liga has targeted to make its wining table bigger. It has a record of most time uefa champions league winners. Beating English Premier League champion Barcelona titles the champions of the year 2008-2009.

In spite of being popular, La Liga is not familiar to the people over the world. For this the language is the main cause of it. Only when they play in the champions’ league they got most publicity in English language (this is totally my personal opinion). Again I am going back to the English premier league’s top four football club. They all have started well in the new campaign of the year 09-10. Only Liverpool’s two defeats earlier this season depressed the fans. But the last three wins may be inspiring them to do well in the uefa champions league.

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso to transfer Real Madrid

After Ronaldo, the most exclaimed football club has targeted on Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso. The 27-year-old is going to sell for £30m. He could be reached at Madrid on Wednesday in the cause of medical checkup. Xabi Alonso was joined at Liverpool in 2004 in August. Real Madrid came in media highly when they brought Cristiano Ronaldo for £80m from Manchester United and Kaka for £65m from AC Milan.

BBC wrote:

Real, under the guidance of returning president Florentino Perez, have embarked on an ambitious rebuilding programme this summer and Alonso's arrival will push their spending beyond the £200m mark.

Most time (5 times) UEFA champions Liverpool is going to meet to with FC Lyn for a pre season friendly match at 18:00 today. Before visiting Thailand, Liverpool played two friendly matches but could not secure any victory. Even they had to fight tough to get win over the host. Now, they will take on most Norwegian FC champions. My question is, will Xabi Alonso take part this match on the side of Liverpool before visiting Madrid.

The English clubs are touring in the Asian countries to play some friendly matches beside the some Europeans football Club. After finishing the tour the Liverpool is in Bangkok now to take part friendly footballs match along with the Thailand national football team. Thailand Coach Peter Reid is thinking in different way about this match and to contact with the most experience Liverpool coach and his team and looking forward with there personal experiences in the previous matches. They just lost only in three encounters out of 15 matches.

Goal.com reported:

“It’s also a great experience to be an international manager and so far we’ve lost only three of my 15 matches, and two of those were against Saudi Arabia, who are a strong side.

“Clearly, there are language problems but I get out there and demonstrate what I want. I’ve learned a few phrases. In Thai, shut down is ‘beep’ and shoot is ‘ying’. So I spend the whole match beeping and yinging!

Chelsea and Barcelona in Semi-final UCL 2008-09

Chelsea and Barcelona have confirmed their position in the Semi-finals of the UCL 2008-09. With the second leg matches both the teams have straggled hard to go thorough the final. But the six times champion of CL have been kicked out for the running season and other German Club has Bayern beat to the Spanish club and most time winner Barcelona.

Liverpool, one of the strongest English Football Club who is leading the second positing of the English Premier League and Chelsea is the 3rd position holders just 3 point back has beat Liverpool in the UEFA Champion League 2008-09 for 5-7. The two matches of them were nail-beating completion to them. In the first-leg match Chelsea was a head by scoring goals1-3 that was held on last week. In spite of draw in the 2nd leg match Liver has been kicked out from the tournament this year.

The 2nd leg match was very competitive and the fans of both English Football Clubs enjoyed most. Liverpool has a very good record in this gourd where they drew more tournaments as an example I want to use the Champions League 2005 when the beat AC Milan and scored 3 goals just six minutes.

Other Semi-final qualified team is Barcelona that beat German Football Giant Bayern scoring 5-1. In the fist led mach Barcelona pushed 4 goals but none from the oppositions Bayern. But the second league match come to result in 1-1 and the total result is Barcelona won the match for 5-1 and will play the semi-final matches.

Argentina’s forward player Lionel Messi who played on the side of Top Spanish Football Club Barcelona, has come the top position after achieving 8 points after the Quarter-finals of Uefa Champion League.

Here is vital similarities in all the quarter-finals and drew my attention that Villarreal and Arsenal scored 1-1 and Man. United and Porto 2-2. Both results came in drawn. It is not fixed yet who will be the play which team in the semi-final?

Chelsea vs Hull City: who will win?

To take-off invincibility of the last five matches against its most competitors, Chelsea is going to take off Hull City at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea did not secure any victories in the last couple of matches. So, the match is very prestigious for them and the coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is also in pressure too. May be, he is arranging the teams in attacking way so that they can get victory.

straitstimes.com wrote:

'Quaresma is a very fast and explosive player who is a real warrior on the pitch, so he will be able to handle the physical nature of the Premier League,' said Carvalho of his international team-mate.

'But at the same time he is a very technical player and can score goals, which will be good for us.' Carvalho missed the Liverpool clash with a hamstring problem and his absences this season - along with those of Captain John Terry - have gone a long way towards explaining Chelsea's unusual vulnerability at the back.

Chelsea is drawing the 3rd position of the standing board. The club is in pressure about its last defeats alongside toppers Manchester United and Liverpool. Even in the home match at home they got serious defeat to Liverpool by 2-0.

Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard Full of Praise about Manager Rafael Benitez

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard recently praised manager Rafael Benitez, who has been at the helm of Liverpool since 2004. Despite Liverpool won Champions league and FA Cup under Benitez, Liverpool fans are not quite happy with Benitez for not being able to guide Liverpool to win a premier league title, which has become a mass-demand among Liverpool fans. Many fans also criticized Benitez for that. However, captain Gerrard has recently been full of praise about the Spanish coach.

Indicating Benitez’s obsession in football, Steven Gerrard termed Rafael Benitez one of the best coaches currently available. He also hats off to Rafael Benitez for his dedication to the game.

Goal.com reported:

"Rafa is obsessed with football 24 hours a day, seven days a week," he said in the latest edition of the official UEFA Champions League magazine.

"You have to take your hat off to him. He’s one of the best managers there is."

"Rafa is the type that when you finish a game as man of the match having scored three goals, he won’t even mention it," Gerrard said. "Instead, he’ll mention that you never used your left foot at a certain point!

"But Rafa does it right. When I need a pat on the back I get it. I have had lots of ‘well dones’ from him, but when I need a kick up the backside I get it too.

Steven Gerrard was once very frustrated at Liverpool and his relationship with Benitez was reportedly not as strong as it is now. In fact, Gerrard attempted to join Chelsea twice after not being given a perfect role in the field by the coach. However, Gerrard recently said he was selfish at that time and was only thinking about himself. Liverpool has been in excellent form so far this season as they are leading the point table in premier league with 37 points from 16 matches. Now, let us see if Rafael Benitez and Steven Gerrard can win a much-awaited premier league title for Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Manchester United EPL 08-09: Liverpool Defeated United 2-1

Liverpool pulled off an excellent victory 2-1 over Manchester United and reached top of the table with ten points. Chelsea might replace them within few hours following their evening showdown at Manchester City. However, when Carlos Tevez opened scoring in the third minute of the match to put United ahead in the match, it seemed to be another story of ‘impressive-but-losing’ Liverpool. However, the All reds remained focused throughout the match and clinched two goals to pick up three points from the match.

Liverpool fans always blamed luck as it hardly comes in their favor. However, in today’s match, Liverpool needed a bit of luck to win the match as their equalizing goal came through an own goal by Wes Brown in the first half. Ryan Babel then scored the winning goal for Liverpool just 13 minutes off the time after coming off the bench in the second half. Manchester Uniteds received the last dent in their coffin when Nemanja Vidic was shown red card in stoppage time after being booked for the second time in the match.

This has been Liverpool’s first premier league victory against Manchester United in seven years since November 2001 and Liverpool got their first goal against Manchester United in the match after going through a goal draught for four matches. With this defeat, Manchester United was left with four points from three matches, while Liverpool stands atop the table with 10 points from four matches.

Liverpool fans preparing for protest against owners ahead of Manchester United match

A group of Liverpool fans naming ‘The Spirit of Shankly group’ is expected to protest against the club’s unpopular owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett ahead of the high-profile clash with Manchester United. All Reds fans are furious and angry with the owners due to a number of reasons. First of all, the two owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are keeping a clear distance with club manager Rafael Benitez, making a serious impact on the team management.

Since taking over the club, the two owners failed to keep their words regarding a new stadium of Liverpool. Recent reports suggest that the owners are struggling to collect enough funds to initiate a new stadium. Moreover, the club owners are reportedly not funding on player transfer as per the wish of Rafael Benitez. Recently, Liverpool manager Benitez accused the board of failing to secure Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry who was Benitez’s target all through the summer.

Even the relationship between the two owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett has not been as good as it is needed for the well being of the club. Gillett once said that his relationship with Hicks had reached in a position termed as ‘unworkable’. Though he later admitted that his relation with Hicks had improved substantially, the anger and worry of Liverpool fans now seems to have reached at its peak with the clubs looking no improvement in any aspect. Meanwhile, reports also have it that the Dubai International Capital, who had earlier been interested to become the owner of the club, before Gillett and Hicks took over, is still interested to buy the shares of Gillett and Hicks.

Liverpool vs Manchester United EPL 08-09: Preview and Live Score

Liverpool is going to take on Manchester United at home on 13 September 2008 as the fourth week of English Premier League gets underway following a week off due to world cup 2010 qualifying schedule. The rivalry between all reds (Liverpool) and the red devils (Manchester United) is always something special to premier league fans. Ahead of this much heated encounter, fans of both sides are now excited and expecting a mouth watering battle at Anfield stadium.

Match: Liverpool vs Manchester United, English Premier League 2008-2009

Date: 13 September 2008, Saturday

Venue: Anfield Stadium, Merseyside, Liverpool

Kick off: 12:45 BST (British Standard Time)

Live on: Sky Sports 1 Television Channel

It is a very important match for both sides. The match is not only a matter of three points; rather it is a matter of prestige. Manchester United came away with victory from Anfield in their previous two visits. So, Liverpool will look to stop Manchester United’s winning streak at Anfield this time around, seeking to take revenge of their previous two defeats that left a morale-denting mark on Liverpool.

The thing is that Liverpool played better than Manchester United in their home meetings in last two seasons, but still suffered 1-0 defeat on both occasions. In 2006-2007, Manchester United clinched a last minute strike thanks to John O'Shea and United sneaked away with three points from Anfield. Last season, it was Carlos Tevez who scored the winner for Manchester United.

Liverpool recent record against Manchester United is not impressive at all. The All Reds lost five out of their last six home encounters with Manchester United, while the other match was a draw. Moreover, Liverpool has not scored any goal against Manchester United at home for almost five years in premier league. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard thinks Liverpool needs to take some risks to win the early kick off against Manchester United on Saturday. Gerrard says, a victory over Manchester United will provide with huge psychological boost, besides three points.

Reuters reported:

"Over the last couple of years we've gone into games against United and Chelsea very organised tactically - defensive if you like - and still lost 1-0." Gerrard said.

"It's important a few risks are taken to try to score that goal against these teams because it gives you such a psychological boost."

However, Liverpool has got to contend with some major injury woes ahead of the much-waited showdown with Manchester United. Two of the key players: Captain Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres- are doubtful for the match as both of them are out of action with injury. Steven Gerrard has undergone a surgery to shake off his hamstring injury and missed England’s opening two world cup qualifiers. However, he is not yet confirmed for the match because it might a bit early to feature him in the heat of premier league. However, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez said he would need to take a last-minute decision on this regard and he is not worried about the injuries of two important players of the squad.

Bleacherreport reported:

"Clearly we have enough quality in the squad, so it is always important to look to the other players and sometimes they can give more to you than the big names."

"They can have the same quality and passion and they also have a lot to prove to the supporters."

"He [Gerrard] is progressing as for Fernando [Torres], He wants to play but I've been told it would be risky so it will be a last minute decision."

New signing Robbie Keane will be there to lead Liverpool attack looking to find his first goal for new club since his Summer move from Tottenham Hotspur to Liverpool. Striker Fernando Torres is mot likely to miss the Manchester United match as he could not yet shake off his hamstring injury. In the midfield, Ryan Babel will play behind Keane, while Xabi Alonso will continue his job as a holding midfielder for Liverpool.

Well, Manchester United is also missing their star winger Cristiano Ronaldo, the highest scorer of last season, ahead of the away game in Merseyside. However, it will not be a big problem for United as they have a number of effective options in Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and newly signed Dimitar Berbatov. However, the good thing is that Ryan Gigg is expected to be back in action after recovering his hamstring twinge that he picked up during United’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at home last month in their opening match in premier league this season. Rio Ferdinand is also fit for the match after shaking off his neck and back injuries that kept him out of England’s opening world cup qualifier against Andorra, but the United defender took part England’s 4-1 stunning victory over Croatia.

Fox Sports reported:

Giggs has been suffering with a hamstring twinge since the Newcastle match on August 17. The 34-year-old Welshman came off against Kevin Keegan's side when he felt a tightening in his hamstring to limit any damage.

Carrick had to pull out of the England squad after he suffered an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle, but is now expected to be available.

Liverpool picked up seven points from three matches and currently stands right behind leader Chelsea on goal difference. Manchester United did not have a good start as they could manage to clinch 4 points so far with a match at hand.

Liverpool vs Manchester United is always a big match which offers a lot for the football fans. Lots of things are at stake now ahead of the match. So, it is not easy to predict who is going to win the match at Anfield. However, I think, Liverpool will have a slight edge over the visiting side in the match, considering Liverpool’s spirited display in the opening matches of the season. However, Manchester United has a long squad and Alex Ferguson has a number of quality options to choose his best eleven for Liverpool encounter. So, it would not be fair to write off Manchester United. I just expect to see a hard-fought match between Liverpool and Manchester United.

Albert Reira Hoping to Win Silverware at Liverpool

Liverpool’s new signing Albert Reira has said that the All Reds have the ability to fight for all four titles at home and Europe this season. The left winger joined Liverpool on the very last day of the Summer transfer deadline in a move from Espanyol. The left winger has been the answer to Benitez’s seeking to sign a left winger in the midfield. 26-year-old Spain international has spent a very successful season last year, taking Espanyol to UEFA Cup final. Reira was determined to make a move to Anfield during Summer transfer window and voiced his claim many times, even though Espanyol was interested to sell Reira to Liverpool’s city rivals, Everton, for £12m transfer fee.

Albert Reira has already set his eyes on winning silverware at Liverpool upon his arrival at Anfield. He thinks Liverpool will fight for all four silverwares coming on their way this season. He has declared that Liverpool wants to challenge for everything and it is important to challenge for premier league, the title Liverpool won last time way back in 1990. Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez was tracking Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry all through the summer, but failed to meet the valuation of the play by Villa. Now, let us see if Albert Reira can prove himself the right person Liverpool lacked in the midfield.
