Indian Squad: Yuvraj named for Sri Lanka tour

India has announced the name of 16 players for the upcoming Test which will be taken place from 18 July in Sri Lanka. In the selected squad, Yuvraj Singh has been drowned his name which mean the committee has given another chance to show his performances. It should mention that the left-armed hard hitter batsman was dropped from the squad for is underprivileged role in last Twenty20 World and one-day internationals. It can tell easily that it is a consideration as salvation from the selector so that he would look forward.

It is an important issue why India has selected more spinners and three pacers. Condition of Sri Lanka weather would play a big role. Supporting bowlers in each sectors is important which causes to select Ishant Sharma and S. Sreesanth. At the same time Lankan condition suppose to be favorable for the spinners Amit Mishra, P.Ojha and Harbhajan Singh.

Ishant and Sreesanth, part of India's last Test squad, have gone through pretty ordinary times in limited-overs cricket since then, both in the IPL and while playing for India. More so because none of the alternatives tried in their absence have impressed enough. And Ashish Nehra is not willing to play Tests, while Praveen Kumar is strictly a limited-overs bowler.

Seniors have got extra priority to junior that is why Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and V.V.S. Laxman have been included in the squad instead of Dinesh Karthik and Bardrinath.

India will play a three days match against Colombo Jul 13-15. After a two days break, first Test will be started from 18 to 22 July at Galle. Rest of two Test will be played from 26 to 30 July and 3 to 7 August as well as SSC Ground and PSS Cricket Ground in Colombo.

India Squad for Sri Lanka tour: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Captain & WK, Batsman), Virender Sehwag (Vice-Captain, Batsman and Spinner), Sachin Tendulkar (Batsman), Suresh Raina (Batsman and bowler), Wrindham Saha (batsman and WK), Gautam Gambhir (Batsman), Rahul Dravid (Batsnam), VVS Laxman (Batsman), Yuvraj Singh (left-handed spinner and batsman), Murali Vijay, Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, S Sreesanth.

India has started its ODI series against Sri Lanka with a win. So, the campaign has brought feelings among the Indian cricketer and the fans too. The cricket clash has been started with the match that was held in Dambulla on Wednesday. Both the innings were full of excitement. The cricket lovers who watched the match enjoyed most. The second match will be held on 31 January 2009 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. According to the local time the will be kick-off at 15:00, 14:30 (IST), 09:00 GMT.
Indian Batting: India could setup and strong batting line up after a long time. By analyzing the previous matches both Test and ODI, you could understand easily what their roles were. Even in the last match, early wicket drop could not get any pressure to overcome a big score of 250 runs despite of Indians hard hitter batsmen V Sehwag kept rest due to injury.
V Sehwag is fit to assist the opener G Gambhir. V Sehwag has played 33 matches against Sri Lanka home and abroad where he was unbeaten in 2 innings. He contributed 910 from his bat by hitting 124 fours and 11 sixes. He has played his 50percent ODI matches alongside Sri Lankan.
All the batsmen played well in the first ODI match at Dambulla except Sachin Tendulkar. G Gambhir 62 runs from 105ball by a strong partnership with SK Raina. Punjab left arm cricketer Yuvraj Singh (23) skipper MS Dhoni (61 not out) and RG Sharma 25. No doubt that it a very strong batting line-up that could bring second win of the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Match: Sri Lanka vs India, Second ODI 2009

Sri Lanka Batting: Sri Lanka is one of the strongest team in the world in the home series although it beat to series to the touring country India. Lankan oldest opener ST Jayasuriya always bats well against India nearly one-fourth runs comes from Indian match. Similarly, in his 19 years cricket career he has secured 7 centuries and 13 half-centuries when he hits 293 fours and 44 from 80 matches.
KC Sangakkara is another strongest pillar of Sri Lanka batting side. He contributed 44 runs pairing with Sanath Jayasuriya during the pressure. All-rounder MF Maharoof’s responsible batting helps to build a fighting score. But captain DPMD Jayawardene failed totally to do well.
Only Indian blower Ishant Sharma protected the Sri Lankan batsmen and added 3 wickets in his personal career. Others bowlers of both team was totally fail to build any strong barrier.
The winning records of Indian are just 12 out of 32 where 4 was tied & abandoned. On the other hand 13 wins out of 23 is very favorable to the host.

India vs Sri Lanka: Five ODIs and one Twenty20 in Rangiri and Colombo

India tour is totally confirmed and the team will reach in Dambulla, Sri Lanka on 24 January 2009. The tour was not fixed according the international cricket council. But, after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai the India cricket authorities has stopped to tour of Pakistan where they had a long tour. In stead of this tour Indians conversed with the SLC to host an ODI series and a twenty20 match.

The ODI series will be held between the gap of Sri Lanka-Pakistan ODI and Test series. After the Tri-Nation series in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka has flown away to Pakistan for a short tour to play ODI series. Then they will back to home to host India.

Sri Lanka is not in good form now but they beat India in the Asia Cup Cricket with the magic spin bowl of Mendis. On the other hand, India is bearing very good records in the last matches, especially in the last test and ODI series. Now, in the unscheduled matches form 27 January will draw the notice of all the cricket fans. They will enjoy the flavor with the match India-Sri Lanka in stead of India-Pakistan matches.

The venues are all set to host the matches between India and Sri Lanka. The first two matches will be held at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Rangiri and the last three ODI with one Twenty20 international match at R.Premadasa Stadium (Khettarama), Colombo.
