56th National Film Awards: V. K. Murthy and Priyanka Chopra honored

As a chief gust, President Pratibha Patil was present at 56th National Film Awards that was held in New Delhi on Friday on March 19 and handed over crests to the winners. Bollywood stars are awarded for the outstanding contribution in different sectors.

Dada Saheb Phalke Award was given for the year 2008 to the legendary cinematographer V. K. Murthy at the 56th National Film Awards function.

Priyanka Chopra awarded for ‘Fashion’ which film was released in 2008. Kangana Ranaut who acted as a supporting role in ‘Fashion’ was presents this national film award ceremony and got national award for supporting role. This award was great achievement for Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.

Priyanka Chopra wares a white thread-work sari and Kangana Ranaut black salwar-kameez to received award from President Pratibha Patil. They expressed their expression Priyanka said, “It feels great. I just can't believe myself.” Kangana added, “It's absolutely amazing to be a part of it.”

Priyanka added, it was actually a double celebration for her, as my dad was also releasing a music album. "My whole family including parents and my grandparents were here to celebrate the National Awards ceremony. It's was a big moment for me and I wanted my all family members to be part of it. On Saturday (March 20), my father's music album releases. So the family has double reason to be together," Priyanka said from New Delhi.
Arjun Rampal got this national award for 'Rock On’ as a supporting actor.

Chinni Prakash and his wife Rekha Prakash received the award for best Choreography for the song ‘Azeem-o-shaan shehenshah’.

As a costume dizener  Aishwarya Rai in ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ Neeta Lulla received this award. Apart from Nandita Das, Neeraj Pandey, Dibakar Banerjee took this award for different category.
