Twenty20 Champions League 2009 first edition to be held from 8 October

The first season of the Champions League T20 will be in India from 8 October. In the in augural season, twelve teams from six countries will take part year. Among them three league teams from India, two from Australia, South Africa and England and single team from New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies. There is not team form Pakistan this year instead the second runner-up team from IPL T20 is getting opportunity this year.

Bharti Airtel has become the title sponsor of the champions’ league and ESPN has bought the telecast partner. Beside Coca-Cola will be the official beverage. To make popular the club cricket this formula was launched by Lalit Modi, the commissioner and chairman of India Premier League who is Vice-President of BCCI. Although the first edition of T20 Champions league was planned to held on 2008, due to Mumbai attack it Mumbai it was canceled.
