5th match result and highlights: Chennai Super Kings won first match in IPL 2009

At last, Chennai Super Kings got a massive wins of 92 runs. The 5th match held in St George's Park and MS Dhoni’s team Chennai Super Kings secured first wins of he DLF Indian Premier League season 2. By beating Bangalore Royal Challengers they got the credit and take a position in points tables. Winning toss, CSK elected to bat first and scored 179 runs for five wickets.

 

Chennai Super Kings 179 runs is the highest total runs in an innings in IPL 2009. Mathew Hayden who scored 65 runs and his partnership with PA Patel was the highest partnership of season.

 

The Players of the Match title went on Muttiah Muralitharan for outstanding performances and the maximum sixes award for Mathew Hayden who hit 2 sixes and 9 boundaries. M Muralitharan picked the 3wickets for 11 runs and L Balaji from Chennai Super Kings picked up two wickets too.

 

Preveen Kumar picked up 2 wickets for 37 runs, DW Steyn 1 wicket and captain KP Pietersen 1 wicket.
