World Cup Cricket 2007 : Bangladesh will be the Champion!

This sentence will astonish all the readers. But I will not surprise. If we observe the last match record, the statistic tells the, the win rate of Bangladesh is 64.24. The rate is satisfactory because the won rate of Australia is 71.42.

DNA reported:

Bangladesh are in Group B, featuring former champions India and Sri Lanka, plus Bermuda. At the last World Cup in South Africa, Bangladesh lost five of their six games including one against Canada while they were also at the receiving end of a hat-trick by Chaminda Vaas in the first three balls of the match against Sri Lanka.

“That’s part of history. Now we target to reach the second round,” Bashar adds.

"Two wins can take us to the Super Eight... It won’t be easy. But being underdogs we will have some advantages. The pressure will always remain on them.” Coach Dav Whatmore derives hope from Kenya, who moved into the semifinals in 2003.
“Kenyan success four years ago will always be an inspiration for the underdogs,” says Whatmore, who won the World Cup with Sri Lanka in 1996.

In the Bangladeshi Bad there a lot of beating record form Australia to Bermuda. So we have to wait.

Chocolate Seller in Dhaka City

Dear viewers, in this picture, you are watching a boy. There is a bowl and some chocolate in there. I took the picture at Pohela Falgun (the first day of spring season). In this day all men and women wore colorful dresses. But the boy has no colorful cloth. Because his life is totally un-ornamented.

Although he has nothing but happy. He is selling the chocolate and enjoying himself. In this day he sold more things he had. So his was happy because he will get more commissions.

Bangladesh will loan $300 from World Bank

Bangladesh is a land of river. More than 230 small and big rivers are in Bangladesh. But most of rivers have been become shallow with silt. Now BIWTA want to overcome the problem by the help of World Bank. Sunil Kanti Bose, the chairman of BIWTA was talking at a seminar on the progress of Bangladesh's waterways.

Hindustan Times reported:

Officials said the World Bank had so far offered $51 million to develop the sector.
Water transport offers a cheap, efficient and environmentally friendly means of moving passengers and cargo.
Xian said: "It also has the potential to reach poor rural communities, giving them access to services and markets, thereby significantly helping efforts to reduce poverty."
"...despite its (water transport) poor reputation for accidents, statistically it is considerably safer than roads," the World Bank official said.
On waterways, 56 per cent of accidents are caused by overloading, a shipping document showed. Other causes include collision, human error and storms, the document added.
"There is a growing awareness that roads are not the only solution to Bangladesh's transportation needs and so the World Bank is delighted to support this important sector," Xian said.

As the transport by the waterway is cheaper than highways, so it will save the money of the businessmen.

World Cup Crickte 2007: Will Shahriar Nafees be a star and will win the World cup?

Shahriar Nafees is the opener of Bangladesh Cricket Team. In the last three-nation series at the Antigua Recreation Ground has showed a good performance.

SUN Printing & Publishing reported about the performance of Bangladesh team in the last three-nation series at the Antigua.

Bermuda’s preparations for this Tri-Series tournament suffered a setback last week when they slipped to defeat against lowly Antigua & Barbuda in a warm-up game, but this time they did at least make a fist of their batting performance, winning the toss and posting a total of 205 for eight, thanks to solid contributions all down the order but particularly from the tail, as they recovered from a shaky 83 for five.

Lionel Cann top-scored with 33 from number seven, while three other batsmen also exceeded 30, among them Saleem Mukuddem, whose 32 came to an end when he was run-out by a combination of Mohammad Rafique and the wicketkeeper, Mushfiqur Rahim.

Bangladesh’s bowlers were not significantly stretched although Tapash Baisya came in for a bit of tap with the new ball, conceding his runs at 5.3 an over.

The pick of the bowlers, as so often, was Rafique, whose 10 overs went for 38 runs, and resulted in the wickets of David Hemp and the Captain, Irvine Romaine, for a duck.

So we can hope that Bangladesh is going to do well in the next world cup.

Tata’s $3 billion investment: In Bangladesh

On Saturday, India's Tata Group restarts talking with Bangladesh's caretaker government about their $3 billion investment plan to build a slew of industrial projects.

Khaleej Times reported:

"We are exploring the possibility of seeing if we can start off again from where we left last time and come to a good conclusion. I think, the best thing is to wait for some time," S. Manzer Husain, resident director of Tata Group, told after meeting with Foreign Affairs Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury.

Analysts said Tata's wait-and-watch is prompted by the current situation in Bangladesh that is ruled by a caretaker government that is cautiously taking long-pending economic decisions.

It has so far taken the more urgent ones, including awarding a 240 MW power project to Indian public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

Husain had earlier this month met Adviser in charge of energy, T. Choudhary, who told the media after the meeting that the government was initially taking only short-term proposals

Bangladesh has won the ODI Cricket series

In Harare, Bangladesh went to play 4 matches one day series. In the first match Bangladesh won very easily and in the second match Bangladesh lost very easily. But the 3rd and 4th match was very incitement. In these two matches Bangladeshi players showed their best performances.

Sky Sports reported:

A classy 92 from Aftab Ahmed helped Bangladesh to a nervy one-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth One-Day International in Harare.

However, it took a cool head from Abdur Razzak to see the visitors home after Bangladesh had slumped from 209-3 with the loss of six wickets for 33 runs.

Aftab smashed five sixes and six fours as he plundered 92 off 77 balls - and alongside Mushfiqur Rahim (57) looked to have steered Bangladesh home after a third-wicket stand of 132.

But, chasing down Zimbabwe's total of 244-8, Bangladesh lost their way after Aftab was trapped leg before by Anthony Ireland.

Chris Mpofu weighed in with three wickets, while Prosper Utseya removed Rahim. However, Razzaq ended Zimbabwe's hopes of levelling the series as he drove the winning boundary.

These experiences will help Bangladeshi cricketers to show a good performance in the next world cup in West Indies.

1700-year-Old Ancient Buddhist Temple in Bogra

Bogra is the 170 km northwest of capital Dhaka. The district is famous for ancient history. Recently, around 1700-year-old ancient Buddhist temple has been discovered in "Bihar Dhap" area under Shibganj upazila in the district.

The Daily Star reported:

Earlier about 1500-year-old pre-Pal period Buddhist temple was excavated on the same premises.

The newly excavated Buddhist temple is more than 1700 years old, archaeology officials said, adding that the lower part of the temple was decorated with arched panels of terracotta and ornamental bricks.

A brick structure comprising some small rooms has also been discovered in the temple.

There are small steps leading to a lawn-like space that was possibly used for placing the statues of worship.

Abdul Khaleque, Rajshahi divisional regional director of Archaeology Department said the entire temple might emerge if the excavation work started early December last year runs properly.

Possibly this Buddhist temple was abandoned before construction of earlier discovered 1500-year-old pre-Pal period temple where more sophisticated terracotta and brick-built structures were found.

Mhasthan is also in Bogra. We can easily guess, in the view of historical importance it is famous.

Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI Match

Bangladesh was beat by 8 wickets in the second One-day International Cricket match at Harare Sports Club.Gary Brent’s four wickets played the important role to win Zimbabwe.

SW Radio Africa reported:

Cricket analyst Elvis Sembezeya, who watched the match at Harare Sports Club, was full of praise for the opening pair of Vusi Sibanda and Terry Duffin who responded well to Bangladesh’s spin masters.

Sembezeya said Sibanda and Duffin unsettled the Bangladesh spinners, a key and tactical move that cast away any thoughts the visitors had of fighting back when the duo’s opening stand reached 125 before Duffin was run out.

Gary Brent’s four wickets were also a key part of restricting Bangladesh to 153, before Sibanda powered the run chase with an unbeaten 93. Duffin played a familiar style innings, providing good support. His 32 took 83 balls before he was run out with the winning line in sight.

This result will provide the much-needed confidence for the crisis ridden Zimbabwe squad as the World Cup approaches.

‘I’ve always pointed out that the team plays negatively when the opposition sends in its spinners to do the damage. We lost the first match because the team resorted to defensive shots. But today (Tuesday) the opening pair went for the kill and look at what happened,’ Sembezeya said.

In the for match series this math helps Zimbabwe to come equal. In spite of being batting pitch Bangladesh did not well in the match.

Turtles Death could be caused by Pollution: In Bangladeshi Coast

More than 200 Sea turtles dying along coast mainly, the southeastern angle of Bangladesh. Fishermen blamed for turtle deaths in Bay of Bengal. Not only turtles but also some dolphin died in this area.

Reuters reported:

Around 140 turtles were found dead along a 4-km (2.5 mile) stretch of beach near the southern tourist town of Cox's Bazar, said Mohammad Aminul Islam, deputy commissioner of Cox's Bazar district.
More turtles were dying on the shores of St. Martin island, 35 km off the country's southeastern tip, Teknaf.

Islam said he believed the turtles died after being caught in fishing nets.
In eastern India, wildlife activists said dead turtles were also dotting beaches there in large numbers.
"We counted 763 of them in the last two months, all dead after getting caught in fishing nets," Biswajit Mohanty, wildlife activist and coordinator of Operation Kachchappa (turtles), an Orissa-based group, told Reuters.

"They had bulging eyes and necks, which indicate they died due to a lack of oxygen after getting dragged underwater in fishing nets for hours," Mohanty said.
The group surveyed a 200 km (124 miles) stretch of coastline in Orissa, near Paradip, a major Indian port.

Not only Bangladeshi coast but also Bhubaneswar in Indian coast, the turtles also died. This death could be caused by increasing pollution, said the Marine officials of Bangladesh

Awarded Money for the Needy Communities, like Bangladesh

Professor Abul Hussam who is at George Mason University in Fairfax, developed an low-cost, easy-to-make method for filtering arsenic from well water. National Academy of Engineering declared Thursday that the 2007 Grainger Challenge Prize for his invention.

KOMO tv reported:

The National Academy of Engineering announced Thursday that the 2007 Grainger Challenge Prize for Sustainability would go to Abul Hussam, a chemistry professor at George Mason University in Fairfax. Hussam's invention is already in use today, preventing serious health problems in residents of the professor's native Bangladesh.

After moving to the United States in 1978, Hussam got his citizenship and received a doctorate in analytical chemistry. The Centreville, Va., resident has spent much of this career trying to devise a solution to the arsenic problem, which was accidentally caused by international aid agencies that had funded a campaign to dig wells in Eastern India and Bangladesh.

The filter removes almost every trace of arsenic from well water.
About 200 filtration systems are being made each week in Kushtia, Bangladesh, for about $40 each, Hussam said. More than 30,000 have been distributed.
Hussam said he plans to use 70 percent of his prize so the filters can be distributed to needy communities. He said 25 percent will be used for more research, and 5 percent will be donated to GMU.

The 2007 sustainability prize is funded by the Grainger Foundation of Lake Forest, Ill., and the contest was set up to target the arsenic problem. Among the criteria for winning was an affordable, reliable and environmentally friendly solution to the arsenic problem that did not require electricity.

Professor Abul Hussam was awarded $1 million for his invention. He has decided that he will spend most of the awarded money for the needy communities around the world.

Expectation of the Team, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe

After passing a very bad time, Zimbabwe is determined to turn off. Prosper Utseya who is the captain of Zimbabwe Cricket Team, has declared that they will win the series.

ECB reported:

Morale in camp is soaring,” Utseya said. “All the players are raring to go. We are out to do well, and if the sky holds we want to do just that. Our preparations have gone on pretty well and I am optimistic that the boys will deliver the goods.

“The playing conditions are on our side so all we need to do is pull in one direction as a team, stick to the basics and take our chances when they come.

“The other thing that might just work in our favour is that we have retained the same team that beat Bangladesh 3-2 at the same venue last year.”

Bangladesh Captain Habibul Bashar considered that Zimbabwe team is strong and he added the series will be very competitive.

“Look at what has been happening to us since we started playing them. If they were a weak side then what would be the point in being here at all for any matches?”

"We are actually getting stronger by playing Zimbabwe and that is a good thing for both of us (Zimbabwe and Bangladesh) because we will be improving on our mistakes.

"We are ready for the fight, yes I know when Zimbabwe came to Bangladesh towards the end of last year we managed to whitewash them.

"Zimbabwe are a strong side especially at home so for us that means we have a big challenge but what we are looking for is a definite win," said Bashar.

These four match series will play at Harare in Zimbabwe from 4-10 Feb. Both captain is determine to win the series.

Cricket world Cup ’07 and the Security system

The security system of World Cup Cricket ’07 will be very strong. Attorney General, Mr. Dale Marshall, discussed that more than these 400 trained police and military person would observe always.

Yahoo reported:

"Certainly we are happy to have the expert assistance of very well trained officers coming from abroad in areas of counter-terrorism activities. We want to have them available to us, but I want to assure you and the public that this is not in anyway a long term measure. The legislative arrangements would be sunset and so after Cricket World Cup they would fall away from the statute books," the Barbados Attorney-General explained as he addressed media officials at the conclusion of the tour of the airport.

He informed that the Region has already begun to reap dividends from the regional approach to law enforcement.

"The intelligence arrangements headed by Commander of Regional Forces, Colonel Antony Anderson, have already been paying off for the Region. Our intelligence networks have led to us being able to take pre-emptive action where there would have been very serious threats to the safety of Caribbean people. That has given us the encouragement that we needed to be sure that the Region was on the right track," said Mr. Marshall.

I am thinking about that will the security system effect in the fans of the world cup cricket?

Global worming: It will affect Bangladesh most

Global worming is an important issue in day today life. The see level is becoming high. Low laying area like the southern area of Bangladesh will go under water after 50-100 years.

ostll affect bangladesh esh orld will have to take a proper step about this problem.

Reuters reported:

"No one has ever told my people what awaits them in 50 years or a century," Feroze said on Friday, hours before a U.N. climate panel released a report issuing the strongest warning yet that human activities are heating the planet.
"But I have seen the island gradually reduced to a size of 8 sq-km (3 sq miles) now from 12 sq-km 20 years ago," he told Reuters from Saint Martin's in the Bay of Bengal off the country's southernmost tip of Teknaf.
"The corals are being eroded, land being squeezed. This is what we see ... and wonder why the Bay that gives us fish and a secure living is becoming cruel," Feroze, 55, said.
"Recently, various sea species including turtles and dolphins are dying along our shores. But we don't know why."

The population of Bangladesh is very high. The density is very high among the populated country. But the concept is not very clear about global worm.

Millions of people live along the largely flat delta bound by the Bay of Bengal to the south. As sea levels rise and storms increase in number and severity, vast areas of land will be swallowed by the sea, experts say.
"Millions of Bangladeshis will lose their land and homes, adding to the South Asian country's plight of poverty and overcrowding," said Ainun Nishat, Bangladesh country representative of the World Conservation Union.
More than 11 percent of Bangladesh's land area would be lost if sea levels rose by 1 metre over the next 50 or 100 years, he said.
"The Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest, will also be affected in case of sea level rise, sending in more saline water," he told Reuters.

"The Bangladesh government has prepared a national plan of action to face the impact of climate change but it has yet to receive any global financial support," Chowdhury added.

Not only Bangladesh but also the country of the world will have to take a proper step about this problem.

Five one day match series: Last opportunity to modify both of the team

After playing the test series South Africa and Pakistan both are taking preparation for one day International. In 5 match series they both will show their highest performance which they will implement in the next Cricket World Cup in West Indies.

Angola press reported:

South Africa’s 15-man squad for the series is their probable World Cup party, while Pakistan have named a 17-man squad for the series, indicating they need to do some fine tuning ahead of the tournament in the Caribbean.

"It’s taken us two years to build our one-day team," said South African captain Graeme Smith. "We’ve been pretty consistent in one-day cricket over the last few years and we would like to carry that on going forward to the World Cup. We’re a powerful one-day team and we’re confident."

Smith said Pakistan would provide strong opposition in a battle between the second and third teams on the International Cricket Council rankings.

It is the last chance to adjust their team before world cup cricket. So both teams will take this series very serious.
